Back from vacation

Nothing like spending 4 days unconnected to any internet service, exploring the sights of Vegas and surrounding area with my wife as a way to celebrate our third anniversary. We had a great time, lots of laughs, lots of fun and took lots of pictures, which I’m sure we’ll have online some time soon. Of course, now it’s back to work. I’m already missing the Pacific time zone, 7AM came awfully early this morning, especially when our flight back got in at 11:30 last night. Now I just have to get caught up on a dozen or so emails that need a response, 1700 or so unread items in my Bloglines reading list, and a few basic techie tasks around the office. Luckily, it seems there weren’t any major problems while I was gone, so I should be able to get everything caught up by Friday, when I get into month-end reporting. Yipee. 🙂

I was looking around, trying to learn more about this weblog neighborhood concept when I ran across Mark Pilgrim’s little Python script that lets you use the Google API. So I thought I’d search on this blog and see what comes up as a neighborhood. I took a quick copy of the page Mark’s script…

Per Dianna’s request, in the comments, here are my first impressions of IntraVnews: First off, I’m running it with Outlook 2003, on an older type laptop running Windows 2000, with only 128MB of RAM, so YMMV. But, I’ve found that with about 80 channels subscribed, it doesn’t run as slow as I was afraid it…

According to a recent report from Osterman Research, any electronic information is potentially subject to e-discovery, including text messages, social media posts, data in collaboration…

  • It’s 3:30PM

Yes it’s 3:30PM and I’m still working on the same problem that was carried over from yesterday. It’s taken me almost this long just to convince them that it wasn’t the FTP client I was using that was causing the problem. I’ve only been using this FTP client for years with no problems up until…

  • Links and stuff

Yeah so yesterday at ITEC was basically a waste. To say I was underwhelmed by the show would be understating the fact. We’ll see how today goes, but I’m not going to kill myself to get back for any of day 2 today. (Hey, it still beats sitting in my office..*L*) I’ve got a bunch…

  • Busy, busy..

Good grief. So many things needed tweaked or replaced or just fixed this week that I only really had time to put out fires up until today. Today, in between doing month-end database chores I’m trying to go back and document everything that happened earlier in the week in the helpdesk tracking DB, purchase some…
