Gmail

Rick Klau has some interesting comments about Gmail. I do think this is just the beginning for where Google is headed with this. I envision big things. I didn’t sign up for an account for a long time, even though as a Blogger user I was eligible, because personally I still like living in Outlook (and OneNote as I talked about below). Having email, calendar items, contacts and RSS feeds on my laptop all feed into Outlook makes it available to me even when I do not have an internet connection. That’s a big deal to me.

That being said, when I realized that some people were being given the chance to invite others, I signed up. Unfortunately I was not, at that time, given the opportunity to invite anyone so I sort of ignored the whole process until this week, when I realized they were giving new chances to invite folks and then I discovered that I do have 3 invites! I also saw this post over at Wil Wheaton’s and my immediate reaction was, “I’m in!”.

So, here’s the deal. If you, or someone you know is currently serving overseas in the military and could use the Gig of space to store pictures, emails, etc. from their family, drop me a line and tell me about them at “gmailinvite” at this particular domain and we’ll try and get them set up. If I found out you lied just to get an invite from me, well, there won’t be much I can do to you, but everyone here will know about it. 🙂

Phil Ringalda has posted a pair of MT hacks that I’m noting here for my own benefit to read later. • Moving day?

The site’s been unreachable all morning. I heard through the grapevine that it’s because the servers are all being moved over to the as yet un-named merge partner’s company. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that this will be worth the wait, in terms of improved reliability and service. We shall see. Hopefully I’ll be…

Big Bride? Originally uploaded by mikemac29. Seriously, is McBride that uncommon of a name? Sadly, the rest of the dinner experience pretty much matched the inability to get the name.
