Another lesson for end users..

It’s April 14th. Your taxes are due tomorrow. You decided last night, the 13th, that maybe, just maybe you should download some tax software to file your taxes online. You have problems with said tax software. You don’t call their support line, you wait until the next day to ask the IT guy in the office about it. He’s going to tell you to call the support line because 1) he doesn’t really use tax software and can’t troubleshoot it from the office when it’s on your home computer anyway, and 2) there are people who get paid to help you use the software, and he’s not one of them!

You just wasted a whole day. You only have one more day to get your taxes filed. Good luck!

  • How long is too long?

Interesting questions come to my mind as I read an email from a coworker about adding some stuff to email signatures as a way to promote an upcoming event. How many people actually read past the name field of a sig file? If you do, at what point does it become too long and you…

Reading Ben Hammersley led me to the just released NewsMonster which is yet another news aggregator! I might have to give this one a try. It works with Mozilla and uses Java, so it will work in any OS, and it claims to render most major news sites, even if they don’t have an RSS…
