Issues on other sites

This is just a note to those of you who may wander over here from the Child Abuse site. There’s a problem with the MySQL backend right now that prevents me from posting anything new, and you from leaving comments. (A Perl mod somehow isn’t installed anymore when it had been working fine until yesterday, go figure?) The host is aware of it and hopefully, it’ll be back running soon. The site is stll available and email to that domain is stll working. You just can’t leave comments. I am in the process of setting up some forums over there. They aren’t a finished product, but you can take a look at the basic shell there and leave comments, if necessary. Thanks!

I met up with my wife for lunch today. The food was provided free by the East Tennessee State Alumni Association. She’s an alum. The team is staying two blocks from my work, which is where they had their pregame pep rally type event this morning. They are in town to take on Cincinnati in…

  • A milestone

We’ve reached a milestone on this little blog. According to my copy of Table Editor, Eric Maynard left the 1000th comment on this blog earlier this evening. I am simply amazed. I never imagined I would get this level of feedback and involvement when I started this last year. Thank you all! Follow these topics:…

Alas, the review will be slightly delayed because said program does not appear to have any options to tell it to connect using a firewall and proxy. So I’ll have to wait until I have some…

  • The Dells are out!

Based on the specs and the pricing I would have to say that this little baby has jumped out to the lead as a candidate for the PocketPC Xmas present that my wife is planning on getting me. Even the $199 “Entry” model doesn’t look too shabby, except for the 32MB of RAM as opposed…

  • Blogging advice

It looks like I’m going to be meeting with someone who runs a website for a small not for profit lobbying group next week so that she can pick my brain about blogging. I’ve already given her a bunch of links and a few articles about blogging, but I figured I’d throw it open to…

  • Seemingly random AV thought

Oh, want to know what I learned today? When you remotely install Symantec’s Corporate edition AV product, make sure the user either has Outlook closed when you do it, or restarts Outlook immediately after you do it. The Outlook add-in does some things that make certain features of Outlook go pretty bonkers. Nothing a quick…
