One project down early

You might notice the nice little XML graphic over under the webcam pic to your left. Yes, I used RSSify at VoidStar.com to create a temporary RSS feed that you all can subscribe to. For the moment it’s imperfect, it doesn’t get the post titles and uses the first 40 characters of the post as the title, but it’ll do for the moment. Or at least it’ll do until Blogger Pro gets their RSS feed working. I did decide to go ahead and feed the whole entry to you, so please be sure to come and leave comments and what not, ok? Or help me figure out a way to track how many people subscribe to a feed. 🙂

Email subscriptions are the next item on the agenda, but I need to get to sleep!

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like if you’re going to make a major media announcement about the new look of your homepage you should make something truly different. The new beta Yahoo page just moves things around. (Probably so that the banner ads show up mid-page instead of at the top where they…

  • Didn’t I see this in a movie?

I swear my work life gets more like Office Space everyday. We’re planning to introduce, by the first of the year, a new policy which will govern the proper way for the organization to recognize staff birthdays, weddings, child births, family deaths, etc. Apparently, someone has been discussing and working on this policy since the…

Reading Ben Hammersley led me to the just released NewsMonster which is yet another news aggregator! I might have to give this one a try. It works with Mozilla and uses Java, so it will work in any OS, and it claims to render most major news sites, even if they don’t have an RSS…

  • Word 2003 upgrade bug

Over the last few years I’ve done a few upgrades to Office 2003, and we’ve been rolling out Office 2003 at work (finally!) over the last few weeks, so how is it that today was the first time we ran into this bug with character units? Weird. But, there you have it, if you ever…

  • Oh yeah, duh!

Thanks to Josh’s reminder, I went back and followed the directions Kevin had pointed to about making MT’s RSS feeds validate and include the whole entry. Now the feeds from the new site should be full-content feeds. Eventually maybe I’ll add the comments link to the feed as well, we’ll just see how things go…

  • This may become an interesting summer project

Listening to In The Trenches while having lunch at my desk, I find myself intrigued greatly by Rob Whaley’s Admin to Admin segment on Uniform Server. I’ve been seriously thinking about trying to setup a web-server and seeing if I could get some sort of intranet put together as a place to post announcements or…
