Echoing my wife

I wanted to add my whole-hearted agreement with my wife’s post from this evening. Coming home tonight to discover just how awful things are, and how much of what I visited last summer is gone, really puts the stress of starting a new job in perspective, doesn’t it?

It’s nice to know that I’m now working in an office that is already planning and mobilizing to raise money for hurricane relief. There’s something to be said for that. If you’re interested, Angela has links to places where you can help.

Among the many news items coming out of Gnomedex last week, I saw an announcement of a public preview for a new Outlook-based RSS reader, Attensa. The list of stupid business practices got one longer yesterday afternoon, when the Small Business Survival Committee (SBSC) decided that since one person who works here signed up for their newsletter, it would be perfectly acceptable to scrape our website for email addresses and send it to everyone. Have you ever seen what a 3MB…

  • One less laptop

There’s one less laptop in our pool this week, at least for now. It seems this particular laptop was a victim of a miracle. It was in a padded laptop case, just stuck in a car, and somehow the front of it (all the way across the base) got cracked and the touchpad doesn’t work. It’s truly…
