Interesting stuff

Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks Office 11 only being available to Windows 2000 and XP isn’t a big deal.

Kevin has an interesting post about how the IT department is always an after thought. I’m sure we could all tell some stories about that!

Pocket PC Thoughts has a bunch of stuff about the new iPaqs and an interesting post about Office documents being handled better by Palm devices than PocketPC. Can you tell I’m really giving this site a ton of attention in my bid to decide on what PDA to get for Xmas? 🙂

On the work front, not too much going on at the moment. I’ve got some database maintenance stuff to do, to get ready for this month’s billing next week. As always I’ve got a bunch of little projects that people are waiting on, so I’d better try and get some of those knocked out!

Last week, we talked about how much people listen to outside IT people compared to internal people. Remember that? This morning we have exhibit #1: I got an email from one of my users. One of his business contacts had forwarded him an email about virus warnings that she had gotten from their IT Department….

  • Office Updates

Microsoft has released SP1 for the Office 2003 Suite, OneNote, Visio, etc. Guess I’ll be over at the Office Update site for a bit this morning. More later… Update: Installed SP1 for Office 2003 and OneNote. Everything seems to still be working. My OneNote notebook has a new tab called “Helpful Tips” that has, well…

  • More on career options

An interesting, albeit anonymous, comment left on a previous post: In my Firm’s IT group (3 techs and 3 application support/trainers) we don’t have people dedicated to help desk – it’s part of everyone’s job. We all do other admin, setup, and development work which constantly change with the Firm’s needs. The model provides great…
